Giants’ Pens “Het Groene Woud”

I bought this Giants’ Pens fountain pen at the last Dutch Pen Show in Utrecht in 2021. The pen needed some modification and I also asked Anabelle to add a ginkgo roll stopper to it. Sometimes thing progress slower in the fountain pen world when several busy artists are involved. It’s fine by me and it was great when finally everything got together last Sunday.

Though the in-house made material had no name, Joep from Giants’ Pens said that he thought of forests in relation with this material. I decided to choose the name of a forest close to the village of Best where Giants’ Pens is located. Thus the pen was named “Het Groene Woud” (The Green Forest). The guys have fond memories of these woods so it was the perfect choice.

The acrylic is exceptionally pretty with dark green and teal patches beneath swirls of mid greens, shimmering light greens and dark browns on top.

The beautiful ginkgo roll stop is made from silver and has a bit of a nice patina already. Here is a comparison shot with the gold roll stop on my Penmeester.be Bamboo and the other silver one on my Giants’ Pens Matcha Latte Nikko yellow ebonite.

The nib (currently) is a #6 JoWo steel fine nib that was tuned and gives a pleasant writing experience.
