I’ve been longing for an EDC folding knife for quite a while. The past days I’ve researched the subject to some extent and picked this CJRB Ria.
It’s a budget knife that is made in China but is good quality and has a pretty decent Sandvik 12C27 steel blade. The knife has an overall size of 17.4 cm and a blade of 7.5 cm. It is small enough not to get into any trouble with the police anywhere in the EU and beyond.
The drop point shape makes this blade quite versatile. It has a thumb stud opener, a liner lock and runs on bearings. The blade is stable and the lock is secure, covering ~2/3 of the blade. Though the blade makes a satisfying click when opened, actually it is a bit hard to operate the thumb stud. I’d rather open this using both hands when possible.
The blade is stainless and has a good edge retention while still being easy to sharpen. It’s a tough little blade and the knife is solid enough to take some punch. However I think it’s more like a gentleman’s EDC knife mostly used for opening letters and packages and some occasional contact with harder materials like wood during vacations or trekking.
Mine has a classy carbon fibre handle but it’s available with different G10 options and a nice micarta with an upgraded AR-RPM9 steel.
Overall, it’s a decent allrounder budget EDC knife.
