Three layers of Tamenuri were applied and carefully sanded down. Now the green layers are well visible under the Tamenuri and it makes sort of a rustic look. It also shows the natural unevenness of the material and the application of the urushi layers. The question is whether to stop here or go further. It’s far from the effect you see on a Nakaya Heki-tamenuri but I do like that it shows more texture. It’s more unique and even more irreproducible.
I think it’s still too green. Let’s do one more layer and see how it goes…
