Inksplosion

I was looking for an ink for my HEMA Sea Cucumber pen. I felt that the KWZ Baltic Memories is very much on theme. I haven’t used the Baltic Memories for years. It’s a beautiful ink but it crusts and it’s hard to clean. Since it’s very easy to disassemble and clean the Sea Cucumber I felt brave enough to proceed. I was looking forward to seeing this lustrous colour as it comes alive on some nice Tomoe River paper.

Given the dangerous nature of the Baltic Memories, I approached the task of inking the pen with utmost care and thoughtfulness. I decided not to dip the section into the ink thus getting it all inky which could be bothersome to wipe clean. I filled the converter with an ink syringe. At this point I already gave a mental tap on the shoulder for not messing up anything so far. Due to the ink cap and glass rim being covered with treacherous ink crust, I decided to cap the glass and put it back into the box pronto. However the ink bottle had its own will and suddenly jerked during a critical phase of the capping manoeuvre. Ink flung into the air and splashed on my hand, table, cutting mat and the box itself. I suspect KWZ used a similar enchantment like the one Doby used on the Bludger against (or to save) Harry Potter. Here is some testament to the inksplosion accident. The photo was taken after I’ve already tried to wipe down the ink with water as a band aid solution.

Nevertheless I do remember my Potions studies well and I mixed some lukewarm Atramentum Evanesca using soap and ammonia. My hand is still tainted by the dark magic of the Baltic Memories but my desk is spotless.
